Bed Liner Removal For Fifth Wheel Hitch Installation

Written by Hitchweb Team Tuesday, February 7, 2017

Do I need to remove my bed liner to install a fifth wheel hitch?

Bed Liners

As fifth wheel hitch bed rails require direct metal to metal contact with the truck bed and to avoid deterioration of the liner under the rails which could cause the rails to become loose, the plastic liner would need to be trimmed away.

If your vehicle has a spray-in type liner, you can install the fifth wheel hitch rails directly on top of it.

Written by Hitchweb Team Monday, January 23, 2017

Our customer: Can I order a Tekonsha ZCI wiring harness from you? I was planning to order a hitch for my 2007 BMW X3 but did not see that specific convertor. My mechanic tells me that is what I should get.

Tekonsha ZCI Universal ModuLite ConverterThis is a great question and your mechanic is absolutely correct! The Tekonsha ZCI Zero Contact Interface Universal ModuLite makes it fast, easy, and safe to add a 4-way trailer connector to your vehicle to power your trailer's lights. Normal trailer light wiring will require you to either splice into your vehicle wiring or plug-in to existing factory connections (when available). The ZCI system will bypass your vehicle's wiring entirely by clamping the intuitive sensors onto the individual wires of your factory tail light harness.

Each sensor is able to read the current that travels through the wire...

Benefits of Rock Guards for RV Towing

Written by Hitchweb Team Wednesday, January 18, 2017

When towing you’ll find that all motorhomes, to some extent, will kick up quite a bit of rocks and debris by the rear drive wheels. We’ve all seen first hand the damage this debris can cause – chips, cracks and even a sandblasting effect are all common occurrences. In addition to the types of rock guards we’ll discuss we also recommend installing additional mudflaps behind each rear axle. You can check out our choices from Aries in our Mud Flaps section.

RV Rock Guards

A rock guard is an excellent option to help protect your towed car. Rock guards are generally attached to the RV frame and/or utilizing a 2” receiver in the rear and hang almost to the ground, across the full width of the coach. When not towing, rock guards also provide protection for any vehicle following your coach.
