Tool Storage in an Enclosed Trailer

Written by Hitchweb Team Monday, December 5, 2016

Our customer asked: I recently purchased an enclosed trailer and will be driving it down to Palm Springs with our motorcycle inside. What are the storage options for our tools, helmets and other gear?

Tool Storage in Enclosed Trailer by Tow-Rax

Our Tow-Rax line from Phoenix USA is an excellent solution for storage in both your trailer and your garage. The tool cabinet for example (part# SP30ATC) has pre-drilled keyholes and mounting buttons that will allow you to easily attach and then remove the cabinet from the wall. For additional convenience, extra buttons may be purchased seperately (part# SP25BK) which will allow you to install the cabinet on your garage wall and simply remove and attach it to your cargo trailer wall when you're ready to go!

We'd also like to recommend the addition of a motorcycle chock to keep your bike...

Fixing a Loud Whistle After Rhino Rack Vortex Rack Install

Written by Hitchweb Team Wednesday, November 30, 2016

After installing a Rhino-Rack Vortex roof rack our customer was hearing a loud whistling sound anytime he went over 30km/hr. Because of the aerodynamic design, this roof rack should be very quiet even when you reach higher speeds. There are a few common fixes for this issue:

  1. Ensure that all your measuring strips are inserted on both sides of the underside of the bars. This is an important step and if skipped it will cause the rack to be noisy.

  2. There is a rubber strip that also must be inserted on the top side of the bar. If you can't locate the strips when first opening your Rhino-Rack roof rack components be sure to take the crossbars and give them a good shake. The strips are generally packed inside the bar for safe keeping and will slide out with a little effort. If you need a replacement rubber strip they can be found in our crossbar replacement parts section under part# M626.

Is there a spacer kit for Rhino Rack Ski Carriers?

Written by Hitchweb Team Monday, November 28, 2016

I have a pair of skis with extra tall bindings and need an additional 1" of clearance from the vehicle roof to use my 576 ski/snowboard carrier from Rhino-Rack. Is there an adapter to add clearance to my snowboard rack?

Rhino Rack Ski Carrier riser for extra clearance

The Riser kit from Rhino-Rack (part# S550) when used in conjuction with your ski carrier will provide an additional 1-3/8" inches of clearance. The risers mount to the spacer nuts on the bottom of the rack and will require a special fit kit WR09 to attach to the crossbars. This kit will fit on most crossbar systems (except the Rhino HD bars) and is constructed of durable glass-reinforced nylon.

To see additional pictures and information on the riser kit and adapter please visit our Snow Sport Carriers page.
