How to Grease a Trailer Ball

Every trailer coupler is designed with certain tolerances in mind. Over time the grinding motion of the trailer turning, will slowly erode these tolerances away. This is why it's a good idea to grease your trailer ball. As far as what grease you should use, any type you have lying around should work.

Over time the motion of the trailer turning on the trailer ball will slowly errode the trailer ball finish away. Any type of grease will work to grease the trailer ball.

I had no idea that you needed to grease the ball on your trailer hitch. Thanks for the helpful video! If the finish on my hitch is already really worn down, can I still grease it. Would it be better to replace it? My husband uses the car to tow some heavy things.
